Kindergarten students at Turtle Creek are spending some time in Bus School lately.
Fifth graders in the CHAMPS student leader program have teamed up with Ms. Armstrong and Ms. Miller-Richards to visit kindergarten classrooms throughout the school and demonstrate how to ride a bus safely.
Everything is new to kindergarten students, especially this year in the school year. Helping them learn how to ride a bus in a safe and respectful way, whether it's to and from school or on a field trip, is an important step to making sure everyone feels comfortable.
Ms. Armstrong, Ms. Miller Richards, and the fifth graders came up with some great ways to teach the kindergartners how to stay safe.
- Remain seated
- Inside voices
- Driver is the leader
- Everyone keeps their hands, feet, and objects to themselves
By doing those four things, everyone will RIDE the bus safely.
The kindergarten students also did some activities to go over those rules, and even learned a song and dance created by the team!
Each kindergarten class will spend some time in Bus School, with the hope that it encourages them to be responsible and safe on the bus.
